Advanced methods for extraction of 2D particles from the particle images
Accurate and efficient extraction of the 2D particles
Edge-detection and particle-masking techniques are used to extract 2D particles from the particle images.
The first method is best suited (a) when the seeding objects are bubbles or droplets, both small and large,
and (b) when the seeding objects are large solid particles. The second method is best suited for small seeding objects, be they bubbles,
droplets, or solid particles. Sometimes, a hybrid of the two techniques is also used.
